The way of Landyachtz

As it usually happens, the company Landyachtz was started by two college friends Thomas Edstrand and Michael  Perreten in 1997. They have been friends since elementary school and used to skate together as students. For several years the company had been moving from basement to basement, trying to create the best longboard ever. The guys put a lot of time and effort into the boards they designed. Micheal was a constructor, while Tom was more into art, so he designed the graphics and the shape. In addition, each type of longboards they created was thoroughly tested for performance and durability. Thus, a lowered type of skateboard with the trucks above the foot platform appeared. This board was the first of its kind and it introduced the advantages of a lowered board to the skateboarding world.

After the company’s success as a manufacturer of new types of longboards, Landyachtz started to take part in various longboarding events, and eventually began to organize their own competitions and celebrations investing into the sport of Longboarding. With everything they were doing, the company attracted many people from all over the world and became a well know longboarding community. Their investment into the development of longboarding as a way of life and sport has been greatly appreciated and respected by people in the field.

So far Landyachtz has developed and tested a variety of products to improve longboarding as a sport in every discipline: cruising, freeride, downhill, carving, and commuting.

The company has evolved, moving from one place to another, until they finally found a spot in Vancouver where they are based now to work for the benefit of longboarding. The factory employs over 20 skateboarders, who live within a skating distance from work and commute to the factory by riding their boards. The workers at Landyachtz are passionate about longboarding and that attitude goes into everything they produce.

The goal of the company has always been to make the best longboards on the market through innovative techniques with focus on the performance and durability. The quality remains their first priority.
